ASA, CSSA, SSSA Student Awards

ASA, CSSA and SSSA all offer a variety of student awards and scholarships. Each year, we honor award recipients at our CANVAS awards ceremonies, and in CSA News.

Undergraduate Student Awards

Academic Undergraduate Scholarship Recognizes a a meritorious undergraduate student pursuing a career in agronomic, crop, or soil science. Undergraduate student members of ASA, CSSA, or SSSA $3,000 ASA, CSSA and SSSA One
Dellavalle Soil Science Scholarship $5,000 scholarship for a California high school senior pursuing a degree in soil science, with free first-year ASA, CSSA, and SSSA membership. Selection is based on leadership and career goals, with optional internship opportunities at Dellavalle Laboratory. Nominee must be a California high school senior who plans to pursue a degree in a soil-science related field. $5,000 SSSA One
Frank D. Keim Graduate Fellowship Provided to a meritorious undergraduate student who has been accepted for a graduate study program in agronomy or related field. Undergraduate student members of ASA, CSSA, or SSSA selected for this year's National Student Recognition Program $2,000 ASA Two
Golden Opportunity Scholar Provides financial support to undergraduate students to attend the CANVAS meeting and pairs them with a mentor in their field of interest. Undergrad students pursuing a career in the agronomic, crop, or soil science. Travel ASA, CSSA and SSSA One
Greenfield Scholar Provides financial support to undergraduate students to attend the CANVAS meeting and pairs them with a mentor in their field of interest. Undergrad students pursuing a Certified Crop Adviser certification. Travel ASA One
J. Fielding Reed Undergraduate Soil and Plant Sciences Scholarship Honors an outstanding undergraduate senior pursuing a career in soil or plant sciences. Undergraduate student members of ASA, CSSA, or SSSA $2,000 ASA Two
Soil and Water Conservation Scholarship Supports students pursuing careers in soil and water conservation, recognizing scholastic achievements, career goals, field experience, and commitment to advancing the discipline. Nominee must be a junior or senior in a B.S. program or a M.S. candidate at a North American university. $3,000 SSSA One

Clark Soil Biology Graduate Student Scholarship Recognizes an outstanding student in the soil biology field. Graduate student members of ASA, CSSA, or SSSA $3,000 SSSA Two
Crop Science Graduate Student Scholarship Provided to a meritorious graduate student in crop science. Graduate student members of CSSA $2,000 CSSA Two
Gary “Pete” Peterson Dryland Soil Management Scholarship Recognizes an outstanding student interested in pursuing research and careers in dryland soil management. Graduate student members of ASA, CSSA, or SSSA $5,000 SSSA Two
Soil and Water Management and Conservation Division Graduate Student Award Recognizes outstanding graduate students with research in soil and water management and conservation. Graduate student members of SSSA in the Soil and Water Management and Conservation Division. $350 SSSA One
Soil and Water Conservation Scholarship Supports students pursuing careers in soil and water conservation, recognizing scholastic achievements, career goals, field experience, and commitment to advancing the discipline. Nominee must be a junior or senior in a B.S. program or a M.S. candidate at a North American university. $3,000 SSSA One
Student Recognition Awards

National Student Recognition Program Recognizes outstanding seniors at a four-year institution and second year students at a two-year institution that are actively involved in SASES clubs at their university. Undergraduate student members of ASA, CSSA, or SSSA. Self-nominations not allowed. None ASA, CSSA and SSSA Zero
Gerald O. Mott Award Recognizes top-notch graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in crop science disciplines. Graduate student members of ASA, CSSA, or SSSA. Self-nominations not allowed. None CSSA Zero

    Once you select the Award, click "Apply Now," and complete the required questions, submissions, other and this will be auto-saved as you go.
  3. Submit by the deadline
    Be sure and complete all the requirements prior to the deadline listed. This includes submission of reference letters.
